Turbine, ENL Group’s startup incubator, has unveiled a new brand identity and sharpened its mission with a stronger emphasis on supporting entrepreneurs who are developing sustainable, high-impact solutions for Mauritius. This evolution marks a major step forward, reflecting Turbine’s growing role in shaping a more resilient and innovative local economy. In 2023, the team made a strategic decision to concentrate on startups that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since then, it has attracted promising projects like PV Solutions, 6ème Laroue, Fouraz and Sealife Organics, which are ventures working on renewable energy, inclusion, sustainable farming and the circular economy.
Turbine’s new direction is already showing results. By focusing its support on projects aligned with the SDGs, the incubator has attracted a new wave of ambitious startups. At the same time, more businesses and organisations are approaching Turbine with the intention of partnering on impactful solutions to prove the strength of its refined mission.
Diane Maigrot, General Manager of Turbine, shares with us:
The rebrand is more than a new look. It reflects a shift in how we operate and the endeavour to build stronger links between startups and the business world. CONNECT, our new platform, allows companies and institutions to share their innovation needs. We then act as a bridge and connect them with local startups who can offer tailored solutions.
It is a move that supports ENL’s broader ambition: to drive sustainable progress by empowering local entrepreneurship. ENL is already collaborating with Turbine-supported startups across its ecosystem. In one example, PV Solutions is helping Ecoasis manage the recycling of solar panels—a pressing challenge for the renewable energy sector.
Turbine is also launching a series of practical, interactive workshops for entrepreneurs and business teams alike. These sessions are designed to provide concrete tools, encourage an entrepreneurial mindset, and help both individuals and organisations unlock new ideas.
In the next six months, Turbine aims to support 100 individuals through its new programmes. The long-term goal is clear: to become the go-to platform for innovation in Mauritius.
As Gilbert Espitalier-Noël, CEO of ENL, put it during the rebrand launch:
Turbine’s initiative goes beyond incubation. It is about building strong connections between startups and the business world and creating real opportunities to scale innovation where it matters most.
With a clearer focus, Turbine is ready to play a bigger role in shaping the future of innovation in Mauritius, powered by entrepreneurs with the support of ENL.
