Climate Action

As part of its strategy to transform Bel Ombre into a benchmark for sustainable living, the Rogers group has undertaken the rehabilitation of the banks of the Jacotet River, home to endemic species of plants and animals.

Where does climate change begin, where does it end? The question can be a challenge to even the most seasoned climate activist. Aware of this fact, we conducted training sessions targeting sustainability champions across the group. They in turn were mission-bound to train their colleagues and peers.

Through education, therefore, we equipped our teams to better understand the chain reactions that a single human action can unleash, and from there, act with more awareness and greater responsibility. More than a 100 micro-influencers were trained using Fresque du Climat methodology. The sessions were facilitated by Rachel Toulet, an Isodom resource person. 

EnVolt started producing electricity using solar energy some five years back, convinced that any surface exposed to the sun can potentially be converted into a power plant. It built its first plant on the rooftop of  Phoenix Mall and from there, it went on to power the other malls belonging to the group, ENL head quarters and hotel buildings.

The rooftop power plants enable the facilities opting for it to include green electricity in their power mix. EnVolt currently produces a total of 5MWh in 15 installations across the island. It plans to increase this production capacity by 18 additional MWh in the coming two years.
