Managing Waste

Helios Eyewear, a brand developed by Plastinax Austral for the Mauritian market, is known for its eco-conscientiousness. One of its more lasting initiatives has been to recycle PET bottles to produce frames for sunglasses. It takes an average of 5 one-litre bottles to produce 1 pair of sunglasses. We distributed 2,000 pairs of these polarised sunglasses to the fisher community across Mauritius. 

Ascencia malls stand in favour of circularity and they put their commitment in action. They are implementing a strategy that aims to cut the volume of wet and solid wastes generated by their tenants by 50% in 2022. To date, 70% of wastes generated in the 7 malls are sorted at source and 20% is recycled where as the malls of Bagatelle and Bo'Valon recycle up to 40% of their waste water. 

Moka has installed voluntary sorted waste drop-off points across the city to encourage its residents to sort the solid wastes they generate and to dispose of them responsibly.

The drop-off bins are of equipped with sensors that notify the service provider when they are full. This ensures efficiency in collection and disposal.
