In celebration of the ENL Foundation's 15th anniversary, discover the inspiring journey of 76-year-old Encamah Chandriah. Through the Baz'Art Kreasion, she achieved literacy, gained confidence, and secured financial independence.
Launched in 2011 by ENL Foundation, Baz'Art Kreasion empowers women from the Moka and Saint Pierre regions. This social enterprise provides them with essential skills for self-sufficiency through literacy training and handicraft workshops focused on upcycling. Since its inception, the program has supported 15 women, helping them find markets for their products and generate income.
Encamah's transformative journey began in 2012 when she joined Baz’Art Kreasion. Starting with literacy training, she proudly shares that she now knows how to read and write and has also learned how to use a phone effectively. As the eldest member of the Baz’Art Kreasion team, she has experienced significant personal growth, overcome shyness and realised her potential. Her newfound skills have not only empowered her personally but also secured her financial independence. She has also fostered lasting friendships and built a robust support network.
