Overview:
The Rogers Group is recruiting a seasoned and dynamic Legal Officer to assist the Chief Legal & Compliance Executive in servicing the legal needs of the group.
Your role:
- Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documentation and provide legal advice to Rogers corporate office and segments.
- Report to the Group on changes in legislation, rules and regulations and supervise updating of government gazette.
- Conduct legal research and communicate findings clearly and concisely to internal clients/stakeholders.
- Assist in the supervision of GDPR/ Data Protection Act framework, contract management and internal processes and procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and assist the Chief Legal & Compliance Executive to represent the company for resolution of issues i.e SEM, Registrar of Companies, Financial Services Commission, Bank of Mauritius, CDS etc. Nurture and manage the Group’s network of legal professionals.
- Assist the Chief Legal & Compliance Executive in managing the overall functioning of the legal department including the preparation of the budget, achievement of revenues and management of legal debtors.
- Assist the Chief Legal & Compliance Executive on any legal and secretariat issues as and when required.
- Assist with the registration and renewal of trademarks.
- Instill a performance-oriented culture based on Rogers core values (presently Agility, Engagement, and Excellence)
- Act as a key support of the Legal team
Your profile:
- Law practitioner (Barrister or Attorney) qualified to practice in Mauritius.
- Minimum of 4 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) across Corporate Law (including labour issues) and data protection.
- LLM holder would be an advantage.
- Previous experience in a law firm or in-house lawyer would be an advantage.
